Debrief Module of the Drum Cafe Program

Description:

The Drum Cafe program allows participants an opportunity to return to traditional business gathering during the debrief module.  Delegates can talk about the experience they have just had and express what they’ve learned during a final group discussion.

Program facilitators carefully guide delegates through the debriefing in order to relate the experience of drumming, from the first drum call to the final beat, to the work environment.  The Drum Cafe experience is an abstract and intelligent experience rich in metaphors and contextual lessons that can help delegates perform better in the work place.  During the debriefing, delegates vocalize their experiences in conventional ways in order to share what they’ve learned about themselves as well as how this will affect future workplace scenarios.

The Drum Cafe program allows participants to build a rapport much more easily and effectively than ever before.  During the debrief module, connections are deepened through the supportive environment that embodies the Drum Cafe program.  The facilitator is an expert corporate trainer or consultant and helps delegates to further internalize the Drum Cafe experience by discussing and explaining some of the skills they have just developed.

The debrief module can be scheduled at a number of crucial points.  Many corporate events choose to schedule the debriefing immediately following the program.  For evening programs, our experience suggests that the best time to hold the debriefing is the following morning so that delegates have an opportunity to absorb the lessons and metaphors presented during the drumming session.  Many participants will actually debrief themselves as they discuss the events independently and generate a number of ideas and feelings that need to be shared.

The debriefing is where loose ends are tied up and the final touches are put on the story.  The experience is wrapped up and delegates are given an opportunity to finalize the overall message of unity and rhythm.  Going forward, participants will have acquired the skills for richer, more productive discussions about team success.
