Activity Time:                30 minutes   

Activity Title:               SoundWave     

Brief Overview:

       
The group is divided into parallel lines; participants stand shoulder to shoulder, facing the other line.  Each participant has a rhythm instrument.  Line A counts up from 1 to 9, while Line B counts down from 9 to 1.  The line that counts, walks forward that many steps; the other line walks backwards the same number.  The group’s task is to stay on the beat, and coordinate the effort such that the flow of counting and walking, while maintaining the rhythm, is smooth and continuous.     

Activity Objectives:

      
Managing paradoxes focuses energy on innovation and action oriented change.  It requires a thought process that is focused and analytical, while being simultaneously ‘freeform’ and spontaneous.  Top 10 supports the kinesthetic awareness of such thought process as well as offering skill practice with: ·      
  • Communication that leads to breakthrough;
  • Respect for, and integration of, differing perspectives; and, ·
  • Simultaneous awareness of process-product in system design
