Drum Cafe Program Debrief
Description
After The Drum Cafe experience, it is often necessary and always advantageous to allow the delegates the opportunity and space to express themselves in the more conventional manner of group discussion.
This debrief is facilitated by The Drum Cafe’s program facilitator, who specializes in mapping the experience from the very first Drum Call to the last beat of the program back to the work environment. The Drum Café experience is an extremely ‘intelligent’ program whose metaphors are rich in context as they relate to the workplace. As the saying goes, ‘the water line rises to different levels in different people’. This facilitated debrief is an opportunity for each/any of the delegates to share what they learned from the experience ~ not only about themselves but how they can translate it to the workplace.
By sharing it with their co-workers after such rapport has been built from the core Drum Cafe experience, the connection amongst colleagues is furthered, especially given the supportive environment that The Drum Café experience builds. The Drum Café program facilitator is the ideal person to lead the debrief, again, because of the rapport built up from the preceding drumming experience.
Placement of the Debrief can be immediately following the program, but our experience has been that if an evening program has been delivered, allowing the delegates an ‘overnite’ to let things percolate and allow sharing amongst themselves privately will often generate a host of thoughts and feelings that they really feel a ‘need’ to share.
Often described as the ‘cherry on top’, this adjunct module of a Drum Cafe visit wraps up the experience in an encompassing manner and insures that the energy and dynamic created with the drums is captured and kept at the surface for the duration of the client meeting, providing for richer conversations and more productive dialogue among the team members.
