The Most Unique Retreats: Why Personal Discovery Can Supercharge Your Career
Throughout the year, we take part in so many different types of events. We see it all—hotel ballrooms filled with hundreds of people, outdoor stages for thousands, holiday parties in the office and more. In between those large events, we get the opportunity to present for very intimate groups. These experiences always leave us inspired and ready to take on the next challenge, and our event with Dr. Larry Markson was no exception.
We were asked to come in and energize a small group of entrepreneurs at Dr. Markson’s “Cabin Experience.” The Cabin Experience is a three-day personal empowerment workshop held in a log cabin located on a lake in Montana. Drum Cafe West was asked to come in to provide an energizing rhythmic performance to kick off the event with a bang, and we definitely delivered. This got us thinking about personal development workshops and how they can support you in taking your career to the next level. Here are three reasons you should consider exploring personal development retreats to take your career to the next level:
1. You’ll create space to be creative. In our day to day activities, time gets away from us. Even the best laid plans can be trumped by a surprise phone call or a last minute deadline, leaving all that free time we planned stranded. The simple act of carving out time to dedicate to yourself will give you the mental space and time to be creative and think of your next big idea.
2. You’ll learn something new about yourself. Whether you have a breakthrough about your business or about your personal life, retreats have a way of opening us up to discovery. You may find yourself getting to the root of a roadblock in your business, or perhaps you’ll gain insight into dealing with a troublesome coworker. Either way, you’ll open yourself up to learning new things about your own habits and behaviors that you can take with you back to the office and home.
3. You’ll expand your network. From professional contacts to lifelong friends, retreats like the one we experienced with Dr. Larry Markson open us up to new connections. You may find your next business partner or the perfect pal to talk shop with over coffee.
Have you ever gone on a personal development retreat? What was your experience like?
Sharing ideas to grow is at the core of every successful business. Without new ideas and fresh perspectives, we remain stagnant and still. This is why it is critical that we dust off the cobwebs and learn something new each and every day. We recently did an event with Microsoft’s Content Services and International team […]
A part of our business that is equally important as the corporate side, is the work we do with schools and kids. These programs really move us, as we see kids busting the biggest smiles and truly coming alive by drumming through one of our programs. We facilitate programs for all types of schools, institutions, […]
The drumming began and in they entered. One hundred or so, faith-filled educators ready to groove! I can tell when a group enters the room how the event will proceed. Occasionally, I’ll get a group that looks a bit trepidatious while others are rocking all the way to their seats. This group was all smiles […]
